Medicare performance, measured properly

Panda Data builds benchmarks for Medicare providers and markets, measuring cost, quality, and utilization, adjusted for the populations they serve and compared with their peers.

What we're building

Relative performance

How a practice, group, or market compares with peers of similar size, specialty, and case mix.

Care patterns

Not only the measures but what sits behind them — the care patterns that distinguish higher performers from lower ones.

Documented methods

Every measure defined and every adjustment written down, so a result can be traced back to how it was calculated.

Built on CMS data

The benchmarks are being built from CMS data on Medicare providers and markets. Measures are defined for the question being asked, and are designed to account for the case mix of the patients a provider serves, so differences in patient population are not mistaken for differences in care.

Research

Panda Data conducts its own research on Medicare performance. Findings will be published openly and free to read, along with the methods behind them.

Working with us

We take on research with a small number of partners at a time.

We work with practices and groups

Measurement needs both data and clinical context. Partners bring the questions worth measuring and the judgment to tell a real difference from an artifact.

Results go to the measured

A benchmark is only useful if the practice or group it describes can see it and act on it, rather than only whoever commissioned it.

Nothing depends on us staying

Partners keep the code, the documentation, and the methodology.
